Manjimup is a medium sized town in the South-West of Western Australia. The name in the language of the Bibbulmun tribe, of the Noongar people that first inhabited the region, means "Place of the Swamp Reed" (the swamp reed was a very valuable food resource in their culture). First settled by european farmers in the 1850's, it wasn't until the rail line was extended to the town in 1911 that allowed the local timber industry to explode into the major resource of the area.
Currently the town (and it's immediate area) has an expanding population of about 16,000 people and is rapidly becoming a modern, sophisticated Australian town and a really great place to live. Out of the thousands of tourists that visit every year a growing number of people are making the "Tree Change" - staying to bring up their families in the unpolluted and serene environment, friendly atmosphere and flexible lifestyle of Manjimup and the nearby towns of Bridgetown and Pemberton.
The Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival is one of the biggest events on the local calendar with visitors coming from all over the world to enjoy the Events. Below is a Google Map of the town that will be regularly updated with markers for the major events of this year's festival.
We look forward to seeing you all here for this year's 10th Anniversary Cherry Harmony Festival.
