Gunns Limited (Gunns) is a fully integrated timber products company, starting with plantation and regrowth forest management, followed by sawmill manufacturing operations across Australia in hardwood and softwood, and an international sales, marketing and distribution network. The total forest estate under Gunns' management control is approx 360,000 hectares including in excess of 200,000 hectares of plantation forests.

The new Gunns Timber Products division of Gunns Limited is the result of a number of mergers and acquisitions over the years, and now has a new focus to bring this new product and service offer to the Australian market under one company.

The company’s original roots go back over 100 years with the Tasmanian oak hardwood operations and, in timber specifically, has built on this over the last five years by acquiring the Jarrah hardwood business in WA (2004 Sotico) and more recently the plantation pine business (2008 Auspine).

To us it made sense to acquire a company like Auspine – expanding on our species offer to our customer which now includes hardwood and softwood products for a range of customer segments.

I am very proud of the history of these businesses and by successfully merging and integrating these three divisions into the new Gunns Timber Products we can better focus on our customers’ changing needs and also build a sustainable competitive business in the Australian timber industry.

Our challenge and passion is to grow and develop sustainable and profitable markets for Australian hardwood and softwood species in Australia and in overseas markets. We will achieve this through reliability of service, consistency of products and trusting relationships between our people and customers.
